I woke up to one of those inspirational quotes; you know the ones with a snapshot of an A-list Hollywood star saying something he probably never would have said!! The creator probably felt having Dwayne Johnson’s picture helped put across the message more accurately.

I could studiously deconstruct the creator’s subconscious driving forces and probably go on a spree of psycho-social analysis, claiming to know what’s inherently wrong with society.

But No! I too woke up drained, void of the will to change the world and this realization is quite humbling, the subtle realization that, even when I feel unable to move forward, the world already beat me to the finish line. It just kept spinning and I, an oddly miniscule sometimes clandestine piece of this colossal conveyor belt, got left behind when I chose to take a breath.

The cumulative nature of time occasionally provokes the pessimistic tendencies that lay deep within and is a recipe for the nihilism that is quite literally the icing to my proverbial black forest cake…(forgive my poor foodie analogies….)

Banal cliché’s like ‘it gets worse before it gets better are so hard to believe when your day isn’t on its best behavior, it quite literally throws the worst at you and the expectation that you have to keep positive thoughts in the midst of the chaos is rather unfair a presumption to have of me on such a day.

Well, all I’m trying to say is, some days will have you feeling lethargic and you won’t have that Elon Musk work-ethic. You know the one you need finish that assignment or write that blog post you promised to write 3 weeks ago. Truth is, you will have a few slip-ups and probably not achieve any of those New Year’s resolutions you set out to achieve and I’m here to tell you, that’s okay, today is one of those days.

Gracefully embrace your inactivity and find something fun to do, probably kick back and watch Netflix and don’t torture yourself while at it. We all need to take a break sometime and recharge our energies for the harder days that lay ahead. Meditate and spend some alone time, God knows how much we need it.
