The Men are Trash & Fear Women Phenomenon
So the season finale of succession aired this weekend, I don't know if I'm sad about it but my indifference to it is somewhat fueled by it's anticlimactic end. Well a part of me always rooted for Kendal, but well life really does happen, doesn't it. All this pent-up dark energy I feel towards Sucession…. (Ohhh yeah, I'm spiraling again🤦🏾)
Today, I felt the need to take off whatever hat I was wearing before and put on my formal, socially conscious, writer's hat. I've continuously encountered a polarity which is not uncharacteristic of our contemporary society. I guess we've all either liked a tweet, or occasionally shrugged in disregard of the ideas postulated by whoever stands on the other side of the ideological aisle.
'Fear women' & 'Men are Trash' are inherently interesting ideas to me, because we can all admit that it's evidence of the inherent polarity that's been slowly brewing between men and women. This is subject to our predisposition to identify with and rally behind particular ideological idiosyncrancies in our society. Women are invariably disinterested in men, for men, are the bane of their existence. Men on the flip side can't help but feel the same about their significant 'others' who have quite literally given them reasons to 'fear [them] women'
The proponents of the 'men are trash' idea are fervently unmoved by any arguments or pleas to convince them otherwise, and in this writers opinion, men have quite naturally developed an antagonistic position to this by creating the 'fear women' ideological parade.
What is quite interesting, is that on both sides of the proverbial aisle, you will not fail to find folks who, though categorised as allies or are meant to be allies because of their gender, will occasinally voice opinions that are critical of their 'predetermined' position on the aisle.
To contextualise this, any woman who feels men aren't trash for any reason is an ally to the 'enemy' and a hypocrite for ideologically betraying all women in the world and the same goes for men who will not overtly partake in the ideological parlance postulated by his allies on his side of the aisle.
What this writer is trying to say, in so many words, is an attempt to critically make an inquisition into the apparent divide between the sexes which seems to get wider by the day. I won't try to predict the conscious and the apprent subconscious effect this divide will continue to have on men and women's relationships in the future but if not to wander alittle, an allegory which suffices is one of a somwhat akin cadence that played out in the Garden of Eden where, both man and woman were not willing to own up to the consequences of their decisions but decieded to put blame on the other for their apparent misdeeds.
Could this be the status quo, that in an attempt to escape the apparent ideological divide or in an attempt to escape from the occassional irresponsible nature of each of the sexes to the other, they each have chosen to create a derogatory pseudonym which is an unintended subconcious segue from their apparent divide, in an attempt to resolve the impasse they've arrived at.
But just like most, if not all problems are solved in the modern society, a Twitter trend that gains traction accompanied with a myriad of likes and retweets is the sure winner of this ideological battle and a quick fix to this apparent physical divide between men and women in the modern society.
